Savinelli: Infinito (66/200) (6mm)
Product Number: 002-033-45021
Inspired by the popular Italian poem L'infinito, meaning "infinity" in English, Savinelli's limited edition series of the same name consists of a singular shape dressed in a sandblasted finish. Written by Giacomo Leopardi, whom many regard as the greatest nineteenth century Italian poet, L'infinito is based on Leopardi's own desire to travel outside of his home town of Recanati and explore the world that he had only read about in his studies as a youth. In Savinelli's homage, the firm presents one of their trimmest, most petite Billiards. A compact and diminutive take on the shape chart standard, this piece is highly reminiscent of the Italian marque's "109" Billiard and offers traditional shaping in a pocket-friendly package. The slender, upright bowl is paired to a round shank and tapered vulcanite mouthpiece, all imbued with svelte proportions that stray from Savinelli's typically more robust shaping style for a handsomely elegant piece. Each pipe within the series is individually numbered out of the 200 produced and comes with a pipe nail, pack of 6mm filters, an adapter, and a copy of L'infinito in its original Italian text as well as its English translation on the other side, both next to a portrait of Leopardi.- Jeffery Sitts
