Savinelli: Porto Cervo Rusticated (129) (6mm)
Product Number: 002-033-47759
Well on the shorter side of Savinelli's size spectrum, the "129" is a charmingly compact Billiard. What truly sets it apart from some of the Italian marque's other Billiard shapes is the use of a triangular shank — a signature Savinelli design element. It provides a striking juxtaposition when paired to a tall, poised Billiard bowl, like the one seen here. While it's fairly petite in regards to overall size, there's still plenty of muscularity throughout the proportions of this "129," with the firm, yet rounded lines of the shank providing some subtle sturdiness in hand.
A town bathed in opulence, Porto Cervo is located on the northern coast of the isle of Sardinia, just to the west of Italy. With a population of under 500, the seaside resort is marked by lavish accommodations and luxury yachts, the Hotel Cala di Volpe in particular known for being featured in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. The village's reputation for class and elegance inspired this line from Savinelli, dressing this piece in a glossy, dark-stained rustication, accented by trim brass accoutrements and smooth-polished briar at the rim and shank end.- Jeffery Sitts
