Savinelli: Marron Glace Rusticated (636 KS) (6mm)
Product Number: 002-033-48068
A slightly larger, more robust sibling to Savinelli's "626," the Italian marque's "636 KS" bent Apple features some additional mass lent to its shank and lower bowl. As a result, the proportions fall in line with classic interpretations, presenting an affably plump in-hand presence while the stem's quarter bend ensures a well-balanced clench. The "636 KS" isn't as overtly hearty as Savinelli's "642" or as trim as the "626," instead striking an ideal middle ground between the two designs and offering the best of both worlds.
Marron glacé is a delectable confection consisting of specially selected chestnuts encased in sugar syrup and glazing that traces its origins back to southern France and northern Italy. The labor-intensive presentation, which results in the chestnuts shimmering as if encrusted in translucent ice, has elevated marron glacé above being merely a candy, but as a prestigious culinary art used in many desserts. Celebrated in the works of Marcel Proust and Saki, marrons glacés have been a treat associated with tantalizing decadence for centuries. In Savinelli's homage to the heralded confection, the Italian marque's Marron Glace series features the rich brown hues of its namesake, paired with an acrylic stem of marbled jade and onyx tones. It joins the likes of the Miele, Liquirizia, Caramella, and Vaniglia series, rounding out Savinelli's sweets-inspired lines.- Jeffery Sitts
