Savinelli: Porto Cervo Rusticated (128) (6mm)
Product Number: 002-033-48424
Savinelli's "128" Billiard is one of the marque's larger interpretations of the shape chart standard, the tall bowl commanding much of the profile's visual weight — a signature approach within Italian pipemaking that's also a key aspect of Savinelli's immediately recognizable style. The bowl's prominence is further accentuated through the gradual taper of the arrow straight shank and stem combination. The "128" is notably longer and more muscular compared to the firm's "106" and "104" Billiards, while also being slightly stouter than their trim "107" design. This is an ideal choice for fans of classic shapes but desire a pipe with a bit more substance all around.
A town bathed in opulence, Porto Cervo is located on the northern coast of the isle of Sardinia, just to the west of Italy. With a population of under 500, the seaside resort is marked by lavish accommodations and luxury yachts, the Hotel Cala di Volpe in particular known for being featured in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. The village's reputation for class and elegance inspired this line from Savinelli, dressing this piece in a glossy, dark-stained rustication, accented by trim brass accoutrements and smooth-polished briar at the rim and shank end.- Jeffery Sitts
