Trimmer and more lithe than is usual in typically robust Italian design, Savinelli's "602" is a bent Billiard with more of a Danish flair, especially noticeable in the sweeping curves of the piece in silhouette. The somewhat longer stem returns us to Italian territory, contributing to a sporty and active character, as appropriate in a sports car as in an armchair.
Each year Savinelli introduces their limited edition Saint Nicholas line, defined by a singular finish adorning the Italian marque's most popular shapes. For 2019, Savinelli presents this piece in a low-profile rustication, perfectly balancing smooth and rolling textures and finished in a dark, glossy, ruby-tinged chocolate stain. The stem base offers flashy, tinsel-like accent rings of nickel and brass, leading into the scarlet acrylic mouthpiece that calls to mind holly berries — all combining for a festive pipe to celebrate the Yuletide season.
