Savinelli: Punto Oro Gold Smooth (621) (6mm)
Product Number: 002-033-53657
The "621" is one of Savinelli's few bent Dublin designs and remains the most deeply bent rendition compared to the "611 KS" or "920 KS." In overall gesture, the "621" shares much in common with the Italian marque's "620" Oom Paul, only trading the upright, straight bowl for that of a flaring Dublin. Perfect for a hands-free smoke, the dramatic angle of the transition and the bent saddle stem provide comfortable balance when clenched.
The Punto Oro line is one of Savinelli's highest-quality series within its standard lineup, second only to the Giubileo d'Oro. Each Punto Oro pipe is fashioned from Mediterranean briar that's been aged for more than three years before passing ninety separate crafting and inspecting processes to ensure the strictest standards of quality — taking into consideration engineering, construction, and grain orientation. Only one tenth of all Savinelli pipes meet the Punto Oro's rigid criteria, making its pipes some of the Italian marque's most prized and collectible pieces. With a number of traditional finishes presented across the Punto Oro Gold and Punto Oro Classic lines, the most notable distinction between the two versions lies in their drilling: Punto Oro Gold pipes are only produced to accommodate filters, while the Classic version also includes standard, filterless pipes. Presented here in a timeless, auburn stain, this particular Punto Oro Gold piece draws focus to the briar's natural grain pattern, highlighted by the expert finishing work of Savinelli's artisans.-Truett Smith
