Savinelli: Cocktail (814 KS) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-033-65064
Like the "812," Savinelli's "814 KS" is, in essence, a bent Canadian, the slightly downturned, abbreviated stem further emphasizing the shank's sleekness and the bold, protruding heel at the fore. This "814 KS," though, is decidedly more dramatic in its proportions, exemplifying the Italian marque's neoclassic approach to classic English shapes — the oval shank is trimmer, and even tapers from transition to stem when viewed from above, which thrusts more visual weight toward the tall, cylindrical bowl up front. It's a pipe with plenty of muscular, palm-filling substance, juxtaposed against a streamlined disposition through the shank and stem combination.
Savinelli takes great pride in their sandblasted finishes, making sure to only use stummels that will blast well and with definition. Because of this select-quality, most of the Italian marque's sandblasted pieces appear primarily in higher-tiered series, such as the Punto Oro and Giubileo d'Oro lines. The Cocktail, however, offers beautifully blasted grain at a price point more comparable to Savinelli's standard fare — pairing a glossy, ebony sandblast with vivid mouthpieces of either dandelion yellow, amber red, or horn-patterned acrylic. The traditional finish highlights the Italian marque's classic roots, while the bright accenting colors of the stems add a playful, modern touch — serving a tasteful mélange of styles all in one composition.
