Savinelli: Dry System Smooth (620) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

Like the "614," the "620" from Savinelli is a traditional take on the Oom Paul, marked by a deep bend, upward-curling transition, and stretched heel. Where the two differ are in their bowl shapes — the "614" being more rounded and tapered, while the "620," found here, poses an upright, cylindrical profile. It makes for hearty proportions through the bowl and shank, and displays a tubular aesthetic not unlike Peterson's iconic shaping style, fitting into Savinelli's penchant for classic designs.

Designed to promote a dry, cool smoking experience, pipes within Savinelli's Dry System series feature wells inside the shank that extend past the draft hole to catch unwanted condensation. The stems also feature rounded buttons that spread the smoke across the palate for more consistent and balanced flavor. While other makers offer pipes of similar construction, few are engineered to allow filters; however, the Dry System still accommodates Savinelli's 6mm balsa filters. Fitted with a flashy mount, this particular example wears a ruby-tinged, auburn stain and smooth finish for a classy and traditional presentation.
