Savinelli: Oscar Tiger Smooth (811 KS) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe

Like Savinelli's "315 KS" Prince, the "811 KS" displays a slightly angled transition and downturned stem, making for a lithe, elegant profile. This piece, though, fits a tall Billiard bowl on the end in place of the Prince's squat, Apple-like form — this particular Billiard being more slender and svelte than many of the Italian marque's other iterations. It's one of Savinelli's more streamlined pieces, full of sleek dynamism and offering a lightweight presence and classic shaping style overall.

The various iterations of the Oscar series from Savinelli are united by their pairing of traditional finishes with vibrant acrylic stems that feature the line's signature star logo. While the Oscar Lucite version presents only one aesthetic, the Oscar Tiger offers two distinct finishes, a dark rustication and smooth, auburn stain. Most defining of the Oscar Tiger line, though, is the striped acrylic stem, clearly calling to mind the fur of the series' namesake. The lighter tones of the stem echo the vibrant hue of the stummel in this smooth rendition, complemented further by a trim brass band.
