Savinelli: Roma (127) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-033-72898
The "127" Billiard design from Savinelli is, essentially, a saddle-stemmed rendition of the Italian marque's "128" version. As such, it's one of their larger interpretations, and the saddle stem accentuates the stummel's presence even more. The tall bowl commands much of the profile's visual weight, and the "127" is notably longer and more muscular compared to Savinelli's "106" and "104" Billiards, while also being slightly stouter than their trim "107" design. Like the "128," this pipe is an ideal choice for fans of classic shapes but who desire a piece with a bit more substance all around and who favor saddle stems over tapered varieties.
It's only fitting that one of Italy's most historic and esteemed pipe manufacturers would devote a line to one of the country's most celebrated cities: Rome. From Antiquity and empire to Renaissance and cultural center, the Italian capital tells the story of millennia through its architecture, statues, piazzas, and fountains. Savinelli's Roma series pays tribute to this history, presenting a dark rustication, accented with a trim, brass ring at the base of the vulcanite stem. The lighter-stained, smooth-polished rim echoes that elegant contrast, and the mouthpiece trades the Italian marque's usual coat of arms logo for one emblazoned with an "R," distinguishing the Rome-inspired line.
