Savinelli: La Corta Smooth (616 C) Tobacco Pipe

One of the most full-bodied examples of Savinelli's approach to the bent Billiard, the "616 KS" dramatizes the standard form with especially robust proportions. It features a hearty bowl and generous chamber with an equally plump shank and stem. It's noticeably more muscular and deep-chambered compared to the marque's other bent Billiards like the "606 KS," "670 KS," "602," and "603" designs. The "616 KS" offers plenty of reinforcing briar at its chamber walls, transition, and shank, filling the palm with ease and exemplifying what it means to be considered an iconic Italian bent Billiard. This "616 C" rendition, however, fits that stoutness and muscularity into a compact, Nosewarmer pipe, maintaining the same bowl size and chamber depth as the Italian marque's KS version but in a more pocket-friendly overall length.

An aptly named series, Savinelli's La Corta line — Italian for "short" — presents several of the marque's iconic shapes in abbreviated Nosewarmer dimensions. That said, only the length of these pipes have been altered; the chamber depths and muscular proportions remain the same as Savinelli's regular fare, creating convenient, travel-worthy smokers that don't sacrifice on chamber volume or in-hand substance. This particular example wears a rich, chestnut stain and smooth finish, and it's fitted with a trim brass accent ring and jet-black acrylic stem for traditional appeal.
