Polo was a prolific explorer and historian whose extensive adventures throughout Asia in the late 13th century led not only to a greater understanding of Asian cultures in Europe but also to the establishment of diplomatic relationships between these countries and Italy. Savinelli's celebratory series comprises a single elegant finish across a single shape, dressing the "111 KS" Billiard in a fine, texture-rich rustication and inky stain. This dark palette is complemented by a tapering stem of jet-black acrylic, its base punctuated by an acrylic band of vibrant ruby tones that lends this line some richly understated contrast: additionally acting as a nod to Polo's iconic hat.
