Savinelli: Siena (616 KS) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-033-87336
One of the most full-bodied examples of Savinelli's approach to the bent Billiard, the "616 KS" dramatizes the standard form with especially robust proportions. It features a hearty bowl and generous chamber with an equally plump shank and stem. It's noticeably more muscular and deep-chambered compared to the marque's other bent Billiards like the "606 KS," "670 KS," "602," and "603" designs. The "616 KS" offers plenty of reinforcing briar at its chamber walls, transition, and shank, filling the palm with ease and exemplifying what it means to be considered an iconic Italian bent Billiard.
Savinelli's Siena line, named for the city in Tuscany, is one of the marque's most traditionally inclined and reserved series, finishing stummels in a warm, mahogany stain and pairing them to jet-black acrylic mouthpieces. Fitting its namesake, the line's stain resembles the red brick of Siena's Piazza del Campo, the city's main square, which features the Torre del Mangia, the second tallest medieval tower in Italy. Unlike the majority of Savinelli pipes that are drilled to accommodate 6mm filters, the Siena is comprised of pieces that accept 9mm balsa filters. Aesthetically, it's an elegantly understated presentation and is an ideal choice for pipe smokers who prefer 9mm filters or, simply, a wider airway.
