Scott Klein: Partially Sandblasted Volcano Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-517-0081
Though we haven't seen as many of these from Scott as, say, his more plump, bent shapes, or deftly-fashioned, imaginative freehands, or even his petite reverse Calabash renditions, it must be said that this artisan can really make the hell out of a Volcano. That is to say that he didn't (fittingly) leave a bit of it inside this Volcano, as evidenced by the smoldering licks of flame crawling up the the convex, conical bowl, paired to an underside's worth of blasted birdseye stained as dark as night, and more of the same (contrast-stained, this time) on the upper shank. Scott has gone one more and imbued this briar with an additional warmth, in the form of a neatly-downturned, hand-cut cumberland stem. Needless to say, it's a composition that would have even Dante reaching for a cold one. Excellent piece.
