Scott Klein: Sandblasted Cutty Sitter with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-517-0086
Well I suppose the most obvious thing to point out here is that Scott Klein did not take the easy route towards creating a sitter. Certainly there are plenty of Cutties that sit — but typically by having a straight shank and stem, and a spur angled so that the pipe rests on both the spur and the stem's bit. Scott had none of that, instead going with a forward and well-rounded bowl, a high-lifting, brass-reinforced (at the mortise) horn ferrule and stem, and a spur/foot that as a consequence had to come out with just the right placement and angle to produce a pipe that wouldn't simply fall over. This sandblasted briar I'm happy to report does not simply fall over; indeed it stands with quite a dashing poise.
