Scottie Piersel: Sandblasted Arne Jacobsen with Silver Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-786-0080
Unlike many of her other signature pencil-shanked pipes, this Dublin from Scottie Piersel isn't incredibly long, the stem contributing to most of the piece's overall length. That said, it's readily recognizable as the work of the American artisan — displaying her iconic pencil shank motif and use of modern color palettes. This is no ordinary Dublin however. The slender, angular design is actually a nod to Tom Eltang's signature Arne Jacobsen shape — named for the famed Danish architect and furniture designer and stylized after a pipe he was often seen smoking. In her iteration, Scottie dramatizes the proportions, poising a tall, Stack-like bowl on the end of the drastically more petite shank and stem combination. The Dijon mustard-hued stem adds just the right dose of color against the earthy sandblast, while still keeping the overall palette reserved — allowing the tapered silver mount to shine elegantly in contrast.
