Scottie Piersel: Sandblasted Rhodesian with Ivorite Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-786-0106
While not quite as short as her Driving Scottie nosewarmers, this Rhodesian from Scottie Piersel is one of her more compact pipes. Piersel is known for her seemingly impossible pencil shanks and use of vivid color palettes, both of those aspects on display here. In contrast to the slender shank-and-stem combination, the bowl is robust and muscular, more rounded and Apple-like through the heel and lower bowl before the midsection's beadlines give way to the upward taper and crisply beveled rim. Said rim is smooth and adds refined contrast against the rest of the stummel's low-profile sandblast, yet the stain remains the same so as not to distract from the stem's more striking, accenting role. The vulcanite, fishtail stem is fitted to a reverse tenon of steel that lines the entire shank for worry-free reinforcement, and cotton candy colors add vivid panache to this piece, visually separated from the warm hues of the stummel by a solid band of pale ivorite.
