Scottie Piersel: Smooth Prince Tobacco Pipe

While Scottie Piersel is known for her relief contrast sandblasts and proprietary pencil-thin shanks, the American carver also clearly crafts fine, elegant classics as seen here. While the old-school Prince designs seem almost delicate, with a tiny plum of a bowl up front, Scottie has bolstered that aesthetic a bit in this design. The bowl remains pertly poised and in this rendition is a tad more Pot-like in its breadth, the curviness of said plump-bottomed bowl accentuated further by a beveled rim. The abbreviated, lithe shank is then topped by one of the artisan's gorgeous, brindled stems, this one boasting handsome blues and greens and refined in its bend, per the traditional design. A warm, dark mahogany stain covers the stummel, the rich hues showing off lovely licks of flame on all flanks. Another beautiful showing from a most talented carver.
