Ser Jacopo: Picta Van Gogh Rusticated Cherrywood (08) (R1)

Product Number: 002-171-2513

This unusual Picta Van Gogh take on the Poker, with its "pierced" bowl, is one of the more curious designs from a series-of-series that is full of novel shapes. That extra bit of sterling silver projecting from the front of the bowl is reminiscent of the shank-plug found on the traditional Cavalier, however, it's real inspiration appears to be the construction of a cob-like pipe Van Gogh is seen smoking in some of his Self Portrait with Straw Hat compositions. In at least one version there's a distinct lighter patch at the front of bowl, suggesting the wooden or reed shank ran completely through it.
