Ser Jacopo: Picta Magritte Smooth Bent Dublin with Silver (L1) (C) (02)
Product Number: 002-171-2935
While most well-known for his famous work declaring, "Ceci n'est pas une pipe," René Magritte produced numerous paintings that depicted pipes. In Ser Jacopo's Picta Magritte series, the workshop brings those painted pipes to life. This particular one, "02" within the series, is inspired by Magritte's La lampe philosophique (Philosopher's Lamp) from 1936. The art piece itself is stepped in surrealism, with the man's nose drooping down into the bowl of the pipe he's smoking. The Italian workshop has done a fantastic job of replicating the pipe, maintaining the large, slightly flaring bowl and the form's sinuous bend. It's accented by a sterling silver band, depicting Magritte's signature flying doves, adding an elegant touch that complements the design's traditional shaping.- Jeffery Sitts
