Ser Jacopo: Historica 2021 Picta Van Gogh Sandblasted Bent Billiard with Silver (S1) (1) (23) Tobacco Pipe

With nearly four decades of rich history in the making, Ser Jacopo boasts an extensive catalogue of distinct, novel shapes. The Historica line was conceptualized as a means of revisiting some of those shapes and contemporizing them, often with unique silverwork, as seen in this Picta bent Billiard. The Pesaro workshop's Picta line depicts the works of famous artists, showcasing pipes similar to those seen in paintings. This rendition, based upon Van Gogh's 1889 piece Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe), embodies bold Italian shaping, with a heavy heel, a pinched waistline, and an inflated rim that lends a certain softness. The curling shank end is adorned with a distinctive, bright silver accent, then topped by an elongated stem of black and white acrylic, for a playful, handsome aesthetic. It's dressed in one of Ser Jacopo's earthy, crisp sandblasts, revealing beautiful stacks of dense ring grain encircling the bowl.
