Ser Jacopo: Historica 2021 Picta Van Gogh Smooth Bent Billiard with Silver (L1) (1) (18)

Product Number: 002-171-3089

Founded by Giancarlo Guidi in 1982, Ser Jacopo boasts a rich history of nearly 40 years, enjoying a well-deserved reputation of being on the cutting edge of the Pesaro style of pipe making. The Historica line was conceived as a means of revisiting some of their more distinctive shapes and contemporizing them, often with ornate silverwork, as seen in this Picta bent Billiard. The workshop's Picta line depicts the works of famous artists, showcasing pipes similar to those seen in paintings.

This handsome piece, inspired by Van Gogh's 1889 painting Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe, presents a tall, stout bowl with a domed rim. The bowl is cinched at mid-waist just above the transition, with a low mass at its rounded heel. The curling shank end is stunningly adorned with a bright, distinctive band of silver, while the elongated stem of black and white adds a playful demeanor. The stummel is dressed in a striking, smooth dark mahogany stain, highlighting a dizzying array of birdseye and 3/4 grain.
