An annual, limited series begun in 2020, Ser Jacopo's Domina series commemorates the year, with the design for 2021 being a playfully shaped Calabash. The domed, overhanging rim defines the tall shape, as does the especially gestural sweep of the shank and stem. In this striking rendition, however, the artisans have playfully added a flattened oval panel between fore and heel, allowing it to rest sturdily, the nearly vertical shank-and-stem arrangement lifting nearly vertically toward the sky. This pipe wears an earthy, low-level rustication across most of the stummel, with part of the rim and the nomenclature panel wearing a light stain for contrast. The shank end and stem base are adorned with trim silver bands, with an additional cream-hued, acrylic band lending further appeal.
