Ser Jacopo: Picta Magritte Smooth Hawkbill with Silver (L1) (C) (8)
Product Number: 002-171-3134
The pipes in Ser Jacopo's Picta series each correspond to pipes depicted in the works of famous artists. In this case, the artist was the Belgian painter René Magritte, and the work was one of his more obscure sketches, which Ser Jacopo included an image of in their Picta-series art booklet. It's a very surreal one though, depicting a woman with pipe-smoking appendages (her right arm is simultaneously smoking both this Hawkbill, and a bent Billiard) and a talking left breast — a striking depiction that fits in well with Magritte's other surrealist works. It's rendered here in briar form with a ruby stain and a smooth finish to accentuate excellent flame grain, accented by a detailed silver band.-Truett Smith
