Ser Jacopo: Picta Magritte Rusticated Bent Pot with Silver (R1) (C) (1)
Product Number: 002-171-3139
While most well-known for his famous work declaring, "Ceci n'est pas une pipe," René Magritte produced numerous paintings that depicted pipes. In Ser Jacopo's Picta Magritte series, the workshop brings those painted pipes to life. This particular one, "01" within the series, is inspired by Magritte's La pipe from 1928. The art piece itself is rather abstract, rendered with heavily dabbed paint, and allows for interpretation. The Italian workshop has done well to present a bent Pot here that maintains a coherent form, while still emulating the abstract nature of the painting — the bowl pinched like a Hourglass and the shank whimsically shaped. It's accented by a sterling silver band, depicting Magritte's signature flying doves, adding flashy elegance to the rugged rustication.- Jeffery Sitts
