Ser Jacopo: Picta Van Gogh Spongia Rusticated Bent Apple with Silver (R2) (C) (7)
Product Number: 002-171-3152
Boasting a rich history of nearly four decades since its inception by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo enjoys a well-deserved reputation of being on the cutting edge of the Pesaro school of pipe making. Thus, the Italian workshop has some novel shapes in their portfolio, such as this Picta bent Apple. The marque's Picta line depicts the works of famous artists, highlighting pipes similar to those seen in their paintings. This pocket friendly rendition, possibly a variation based upon Van Gogh's 1889 work Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe, presents a plump bowl and undercurved shank, with a prominent spur at the heel. Accented with a handsome, ornate band of silver, this whimsical pipe is paired to a black stem for a balanced aesthetic. The stummel, then, wears the natural stain of the Spongia rustication, lending even more textural and visual appeal.-Angela Robertson
