Ser Jacopo: **Picta Miro Sandblasted Bent Billiard with Silver (S2) (C) (4) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3258
This Picta design from Ser Jacopo is based on the pipe depicted in Joan Miró's painting The Hunter (Catalan Landscape), which the Spanish artist completed in 1924. Initially the painting seems incredibly abstract, but upon closer examination the landscape depicts an assortment of human and animal forms, with the hunter visible along the left side. A triangular head sits atop his stick figure body while a freshly lit pipe protrudes from his mustache, holding a smoking gun in one hand and a freshly hunted rabbit in the other. This homage from the Italian workshop does an excellent job of capturing the original pipe's flowing gesture, with the stummel's sandblasted finish complementing the warm background from Miró's painting. A pair of beadlines grace the upper bowl, just underneath the rim while a silver band accents the shank end for further visual admiration.
