Ser Jacopo: Picta Van Gogh Spongia Rusticated Barrel with Silver (R2) (C) (8)
Product Number: 002-171-3259
Ser Jacopo founder Giancarlo Guido was an avid connoisseur of fine art, and the Picta line celebrates pipes depicted in famous paintings, with this example based on a pipe depicted in famous paintings, with this example based on a Vincent van Gogh piece entitled Self Portrait with Straw Hat and Pipe from 1887. This Barrel is a distinctive creation from the Italian workshop, with the stout bowl featuring a slightly angled heel, allowing it to rest back on the bit of the saddle stem. A single wrapping ridgeline delineates the smooth, lightly stained rim from the remainder of the bowl that's finished in a natural stained, Spongia rustication. Perhaps most eye-catching are the bright silver accoutrements along the shank end and in what could be the "foot" of this Cavalier-like piece.-Angela Robertson
