Ser Jacopo's limited Domina series commemorates the year with a particular shape. The 2020 design for example, was a Volcano rendered in different finishes. For 2021, the same theme is afoot, with the Italian marque showcasing a handsome Calabash. Featuring the form's mushroom-style, overhanging rim atop a tall, full-bodied bowl, this design playfully presents a flattened panel between the lower fore and heel that allows it to sit with the bowl thrust forward. A rather lengthy shank-and-stem arrangement is accentuated by silver abutting a cream-colored, ringed accent band, adding elegance and contrasting the downturned jet-black mouthpiece. Wearing a warm, ruby-toned sandblast that highlights the tightly stacked rings beneath, this is a must-have for collectors of handsome, well-made Italian pipes.
