Ser Jacopo's Domina line is a limited series meant to commemorate the year with a unique pipe shape in a variety of finishes. 2020 saw the Volcano take the honor, but for 2021 the Pesaro workshop has opted for a distinctive rendition of the Calabash. The domed rim often associated with the shape, adorned with a gorgeous array of birdseye, hangs over the bowl, its smooth finish contrasting with the Spongia rustication that carries across the rest of the stummel. This pipe has an angular, flattened heel, cutting high up into the body of the bowl, allowing the pipe to sit sturdily. Out back, the high-kicking shank gives way to an elegant saddle stem, arcing down at approximately the same height of the bowl. Accented with a white band between two bands of sterling silver and dressed in a gorgeous natural finish, this is a classy, sophisticated piece that does 2021 justice.
