Ser Jacopo: Rusticated Calabash (R1) (A)

Product Number: 002-171-3338

We see a wide variety of briar Calabash interpretations from the Italian Ser Jacopo workshop, but I have to say it is rarely I see one like this. The mushroom cap endemic to the shape is present, rendered in briar instead of the historic use of meerschaum, resting firmly (this one does not include a removable cap) atop a bowl of rusticated textures. The heel and shank are where things start to take a real turn, as it were, and it's a quite abrupt turn, presenting roughly right angles at both the heel and the top of the transition, with a very Bulldog-like tapered and diamond-shaped shank and stem arrangement trailing away out back. It's a singular design and a testament to Ser Jacopo's penchant for inventive styling.
