Ser Jacopo: Spongia Partially Rusticated Rhodesian (R2) (E) (Maxima, Maxima, Maxima, Maxima, Maxima, Maxima)
Product Number: 002-171-3365
Founded by the late Giancarlo Guidi nearly four decades ago, Ser Jacopo continues to be known for bold, often whimsical designs, enjoying a well-deserved reputation of being on the cutting edge of the Pesaro school of pipe making. This substantial, dynamic interpretation of the Rhodesian is certainly a large, lengthy pipe and bears six of the Italian marque's "Maxima" stamps. Traditionally designed, it features the characteristic twin beadlines around its gigantic waistline, separating the broadly domed rim from the lower bowl. Out back, the muscular, round shank and saddle stem diminish toward the bit; the entire length of this piece is more than nine inches long. Proportionally, though, this is a visually well-balanced pipe and is dressed in the natural stain of the Spongia rustication, with the aforementioned rim and the two nomenclature panels along the shank lightly polished for textural diversity.-Angela Robertson
