Ser Jacopo: Historica 2021 Picta Von Gogh Rowlette Rusticated Bent Billiard with Silver (1) (28) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3376
Founded by Giancarlo Guidi in 1982, Ser Jacopo boasts a rich history of nearly 40 years, enjoying a well-deserved reputation of being on the cutting edge of the Pesaro style of pipe making. The Historica line was conceived as a means of revisiting some of their more distinctive shapes and contemporizing them, often with ornate silverwork, as seen in this bent Billiard. The workshop's Picta line depicts the works of famous artists, showcasing pipes similar to those seen in paintings. This pipe, based upon Van Gogh's 1889 painting Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Pipe, presents a tall, hearty bowl that's dressed in the texturally diverse Rowlette "dripping wax" finish. While the motif is a common one in Italian pipe making, Ser Jacopo's design is deftly detailed and crafted, the smooth and rusticated chestnut tones resulting in a warm, comforting disposition. The cap-like, lightly stained smooth inner rim is lightly stained for contrast and is mirrored by a similar trim band near the shank end. The curling, abbreviated shank is adorned with a gleaming accent band of silver, while the elongated stem of black and white adds a playful demeanor to this striking pipe that comes with its own hard case.
