Ser Jacopo: Spongia Rusticated Hawkbill (R2) Tobacco Pipe

The Hawkbill is a distinctly Italian shape and Ser Jacopo's renditions of the inherently playful designs are always eye catching. This rather slender rendition is a bit of a departure, with the bowl a hybrid of Stack and Acorn shapes, its heel notably tapered and rounded. Many similar designs from the Pesaro workshop feature a chubby Apple bowl, while this piece maintains a sleek aesthetic. Out back, the familiar downward, aquiline curve to the bit is dramatized with plenty of negative space beneath for a striking profile, while a demure curve to the stem lends a touch of playfulness. It's dressed in a warm, honeyed rustication, courtesy of the Pesaro workshop's Spongia line, lending the stummel a craggy texture and unique look, with the rim finished smooth for contrast.
