Ser Jacopo: Gem Series Amber Delecta Smooth Fiammata (Smeraldo) Smooth Bent Dublin with Silver (C) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3490
Ser Jacopo's Gem Series consists of the Pesaro Workshop's most superlative pipes: those that display exceptional grain and shaping, with several internal gradings available within the line itself. This particular bent Dublin example is of the Smeraldo ("Emerald") grade, featuring an emerald colored gem inlaid into the shank's bit, and a striking, playful construction. This shape thrives due to its curvature, as the underside is possessed of a continuous implied line that runs from the button to the rim, something that's magnified especially by the sweeping form of the heel and slight upturn of the shank. Said shank is adorned with a domed, flared fitment of crackling, amber-hued acrylic, mirroring the color of the stem which, itself, features a silver band around the base that steppes up sharply to match the width of the shank. At the transition we see an interesting kind of pseudo-cheeking that is the result of the circular shank feeding into the ridgeline-adorned aft side of the bowl. These ridgelines start right around the midpoint of the shank, pushing it inward visually and running from there to the rim, squaring it off at the rear before travelling to the rounded fore, offering a separation between the domed, dipped rim and the bowl. The stummel here is dressed in a warm, honey blonde stain that showcases some truly excellent flame and straight grain encircling the bowl, with the expansive rim awash in lovely, dense birdseye.
