Ser Jacopo: Spongia Rusticated Bent Dublin (R2) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3510
This bent Dublin from Ser Jacopo is quite a striking imagining of the shape, with a form that speaks to a decisive forward momentum. The shank and stem here are paneled, with four ridgelines framing a gradual expansion from the stem base to the transition , the latter of which is quite tightly knit, owing this especially to the rounding of the aft portion of the bowl. Said bowl is well over two inches tall and showcases a steep curvature to the rim that pushes the aft side down while rounding out the surface near it. Additionally, the rim here is finished smooth, crisply separating it from the grater bowl with its craggy rustication, something magnified through a firm ridge that marks its start. A sharp forward lean makes the bowl stand out even more, imbuing the entire piece with a striking momentum, while the whole of the briar is covered in a honeyed, natural stain.
