Assigned four "Maxima" stamps, this Ser Jacopo creation is a behemoth that is nonetheless manageable and nicely balanced. Also, it sits sturdily upright, which is quite appealing. The forward-tilting bowl rests upon a slightly angled, flattened heel. A high-set transition doesn't allow for the draping of a digit, but this pipe is easily gripped. Out back, the almost vertical shank and offset saddle stem provide that aforementioned stabilizing effect and it's dressed in one of the workshop's earthy rustications, except for the smooth rim and band at the shank end. Another playful pipe from the Pesaro brand, this nearly half-pound briar is primed for lengthy smoking sessions and could double as a door stop.
