Ser Jacopo: Imago Smooth Rhodesian Sitter with Silver (L1) (B) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3723
Bearing a striking resemblance to some of their La Pipaccia pieces, this Rhodesian rendition from Ser Jacopo displays the Italian workshop's penchant for playful styling quite well. As a member of the Imago line, meaning "image" in English, this pipe showcases a pair of mirrored silver fitments, one at the shank end, one at the stem base, that frame the junction and provide some elegantly stylized separation between the shank and stem. Said stem curves gently out of the shank, its black taper lending some grace as this pipe sits, something it does quite well thanks to a flattened panel at the heel that, while sharpening the heel's own curve, adds a distinct practical element to this piece. The bowl is quite tall and displays a mid-set waistline marked by a pair of beadlines, a taper to the rim taking hold immediately afterward, the curves of the bowl's build offering a lovely feel in hand. Dressing the briar here is a warm and deep chestnut stain that unveils some handsome cross grain wrapping through the flanks and around the fore, the silver accents and black stem offering lovely contrast.-John McElheny
