Ser Jacopo: Picta Magritte Smooth Bent Billiard with Silver (L1) (C) (18) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3734
The shaping of this Ser Jacopo bent Billiard is influenced by René Magritte's surrealist painting The Cripple from 1948 in which three pipes dangle from the mouth of a multi-nosed figure. This rendition from the Italian workshop is part of their Picta line, which features pipes seen in famous paintings. Here, the tall, rounded and forward-canting bowl displays a lifting heel and the soft, supple shaping associated with Danish design. A sweeping, gestural shank is topped by a jet-black acrylic stem with an ornate silver accent between them depicting the Belgian artist's iconic flying doves. The stummel is dressed in a smoldering auburn contrast stain highlight both stunning whorls of birdseye and feathery wisps of flame grain in this fluid, elegant piece.
