Ser Jacopo: Domina 2022 Rusticated Bent Apple with Silver (R1) (D) (33) Tobacco Pipe

Ser Jacopo's Domina line is a limited-edition, annual release that consists of a single pipe shape rendered across various finishes, with the shape altered each year. The Italian marque has kept the tradition alive since 1996 and continues to do so for 2022 with their release of a unique rendition of the bent Apple shape. The Pesaro workshop is known for their unique and oftentimes playful style, which is reflected in this bent Apple design.

While the form's characteristic rounded bowl and high-kicking shank-and-stem arrangement are present, the heel, or base from which the bowl rests, consists of a jutting, forward-driving protrusion. From the fore, the underside of the heel curves upward toward the shank and cradles the soft contours of the bowl along the way. The acrylic mouthpiece makes a steep arc that continues the upward flare of the stummel's undercurve and promotes a comfortable smoking posture. As part of the series, each piece is numbered out of 333 and accented with an ornate sterling silver accent. This particular pipe is numbered 33 and wears a craggy rustication that provides ample texture for the fingers to explore, save for the rim and nomenclature panel, which are left smooth and stained a lighter color for contrast.
