While the "dripping wax" finish is something distinctive to Italian pipe making, within that context, techniques and approaches vary widely. Whereas the Radices favor a very abstract, impressionistic aesthetic for example, Ser Jacopo carves theirs in a smooth, more clearly detailed style. That is, of course, what we're looking at here, wrapped around the statuesque bowl of this firm, traditionally-inclined, "Maxima" bent Billiard. Said bowl is nearly two inches deep in its chamber, its capacious depths surrounded by thick, insulating walls that are sure to assist in lengthy smoking sessions. A sleek length of shank and stem keep the rear of this pipe looking rather svelte when compared to the bowl: a welcome addition that balances out its proportions.
