Ser Jacopo: Sandblasted Volcano Churchwarden (S2) (A) Tobacco Pipe

While not a rarity, Churchwardens from Ser Jacopo aren't commonly seen in the Italian workshop's portfolio, the Volcano-Churchwarden combination even less so, making this handsome example a standout. The bowl features the form's recognizable broad base and wrapping ridgeline, along with its taper toward the rim, as well as a high-set transition and sharply lifting shank that are then topped by the lengthy, sinuously bent stem. The deep-chambered bowl is comfortable in hand, with room at the transition to casually drape a thumb, with the willowy mouthpiece primed for a comfortable smoking stance. The stummel is dressed in a crisp, earthy sandblast that draws out stacks of rippling growth rings throughout the stummel and wrapping around the bowl, the smooth surface of the base displaying swirling birdseye.
