Ser Jacopo: Spongia Rusticated Rhodesian Sitter Churchwarden (R2) (A) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3904
This Churchwarden from Italian workshop Ser Jacopo takes the form of a sitting Rhodesian, the likes of which we've seen before several times from the brand, though never extended to this degree. The outline of this piece is incredibly sinuous, reminiscent of the Saxophone with a steep bend of stem that's here paired to a sharply upturned shank, the combination taking on a consistent taper to the button out of the wide transition. This strikingly arced duo lends the pipe a stance that's quite well-suited to jaw-hanging, all while keeping the smoke well away from the eyes thanks to its eight and a half inches of length. Up front, the bowl stands atop a flattened, sure-sitting heel and cants forward dynamically, flaring out to a firm ridgeline before taking on a taper to the rim. Dressed in a Ser Jacopo's natural Spongia rustication, the stummel offers plenty of engaging texture, while its pairing to a vibrant white acrylic stem lends the composition a wealth of lovely contrast. -John McElheny
