Ser Jacopo: Picta Miro Smooth Calabash with Silver (L1) (C) (5) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3947
Based on the curving Calabash seen being smoked by the "hunter" figure in Joan Miro's highly abstracted "Catalan Landscape", this Ser Jacopo design echoes the playful, stream-of-consciousness gestures and themes of the aforementioned artwork. The stem, shank, and transition are all fluid and easy-flowing, before suddenly lifting up to a high-rimmed, inquisitive-looking bowl, creating a lively, intelligent profile — not to mention a properly deep chamber. Said bowl flares strikingly to its rim, and the rim itself is marked by a crisp ridgeline just below its slight upward dome. Reminiscent of both the Rhodesian and the bent Dublin, this pipe is dressed in a deep chestnut stain that reveals some handsome grain throughout.
