Ser Jacopo: Smooth Devil Anse with Silver (L1) (A) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-3992
Ser Jacopo was founded in the 1980s by legendary pipe maker Giancarlo Guidi. The workshop cultivated their signature Pesaro style, which delights in dramatic flourishes and whimsical stylings, even more so than the already playful Italian tradition. Unfortunately, Guidi passed away in 2012, but Ser Jacopo carries on his legacy. Although the Devil Anse is an uncommon shape in Italian pipe making, Ser Jacopo's rendition of the shape is quite traditional. The plump bowl flows into a tapering shank, which joins to the jet-black acrylic stem at a glittering silver band. The conservative shaping leads to emphasis on the grain pattern, which follows a broad swath of cross grain down the shank, around the flank, and to the fore of the bowl where the dynamic forward cant gives the grain a vertical orientation.
