Ser Jacopo: Gem Series Fiammata (Zaffiro) Bent Dublin with Silver (A) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4059
Ser Jacopo was founded in the 1980s by legendary pipe maker Giancarlo Guidi. The workshop cultivated their signature Pesaro style, which delights in dramatic flourishes and whimsical stylings, even more so than the already playful Italian tradition. Sadly, Guidi passed away in 2012, but Ser Jacopo carries on his legacy. The Gem Series consists of the most outstanding pipes at Ser Jacopo, displaying incredible shaping, stunning grain, and an abundance of classic Pesaro charm. Moreover, the series has an internal grading system to denote quality that ascends in order from Smeraldo ("Emerald"), Granato ("Garnet"), Zaffiro ("Sapphire"), and Rubino ("Ruby"), to Brillante ("Diamond").
This bent Dublin by Ser Jacopo earned the Gem Series' esteemed Zaffiro grade. Therefore, it is no surprise this pipe possesses exquisite grain. The curvaceous underside and broad rim swirl with tightly-packed birdseye, whereas the thick, insulating walls in between showcase sweeping flame grain. Furthermore, the bowl is encircled by dual beadlines, while the convex rim creates an undulating ridgeline, adding crisp texture to the auburn smooth finish. Out back, the stubby shank-and-stem arrangement gives this pipe Nosewarmer dimensions and muscular proportions. Additionally, the acrylic saddles stem provides a comfortable clench and joins to the stummel at a shining silver band, offering a distinguished accent for the classic color palette.--Zach Podl
