Ser Jacopo: Rowlette Rusticated Billiard Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-171-4167

Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Though Guidi passed away in 2012, his legacy lives on not only in the pipes he crafted, or the company he founded, but in the language of design that he helped to pioneer. Though not part of their impressively-sized Maxima series, this Billiard boasts an appreciable length of almost six and a half inches long, its hearty bowl acting as the center of the visual weight here. A wide transition gives way to a sleekly tapering shank-and-stem combination which slenderizes the aft portion of the pipe all the way to the button, enhancing the presence of the bowl. Said bowl stands atop a firm, rounded heel and grows tall, thick walls which taper very slightly toward the rim, offering enough curvature to be comfortable in hand. Wearing the carved Rowlette rustication, this pipe showcases a look that's mostly distinctive to Italian pipe making: an eye-catching "dripping wax" finish, here stained a warm auburn that complements the dark brown stem.
