Ser Jacopo: Insanus Spongia Rusticated Billiard with Silver (R2) (D) (5) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4205
Ser Jacopo was founded in the 1980s by legendary pipe maker Giancarlo Guidi. The workshop cultivated their signature Pesaro style, which delights in dramatic flourishes and whimsical stylings, even more so than the already playful Italian tradition. Sadly, Guidi passed away in 2012, but Ser Jacopo carries on his legacy. Ser Jacopo's Insanus series features reality-bending pipes that revel in bucking standard pipe making conventions. This Insanus Billiard looks as if Ser Jacopo italicized the neoclassic shape-chart standard. The robust bowl is possessed of thick and cylindrical walls, but, instead of rising upright, they ascend at a pronounced rearward angle. Therefore, the bowl's geometric stature shifts focus to the pronounced heel at the fore, which frames the streamlined, low-slung profile of this shape that exudes an aerodynamic aura. Out back, the shank is short but retains proportional balance relative to the bowl, while a trim silver band and saddle stem imbue this pipe with sleekness. Additionally, the stummel is dressed in the blonde-hued Spongia rustication, ensuring this pipe will acquire a fine patina over the years.
