Ser Jacopo: Smooth Bent Billiard with Silver (L1) (A) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4206
Founded in 1982 by Giancarlo Guidi, Ser Jacopo has built a reputation on crafting high-quality briars that are renowned for their robust proportions and playful shaping cues. The Italian atelier's style has since defined the Pesaro style of pipe making, each of their pipes imbued with a sense of character and reflecting the whimsical creativity that went into crafting them. Though Guidi passed away in 2012, his legacy lives on not only in the pipes he crafted, or the company he founded, but in the language of design that he helped to pioneer. This gently bent Billiard is a wonderfully neoclassical example of the shape from the Pesaro workshop, presenting with a striking slenderness through its shank and stem that's cultivated by the combination's sleek taper and easy downturn at the bit. This taper suffuses the aft end of the pipe with a gentle elegance, and it doesn't detract from the full-bodied bowl's soft curves, its understated forward cant offering a touch of dynamism to the profile. A pair of beadlines mark the bowl near the midsection, and a band of silver accents the junction, its elegant flair contrasting the warm chestnut stain of the stummel.
