Ser Jacopo: Picta Magritte Spongia Rusticated Hawkbill with Silver (R2) (C) (17) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-171-4245
The late Giancarlo Guidi, founder of Ser Jacopo, was an avid art collector and enthusiast. So much of an enthusiast, in fact, that he created the Picta line — a series inspired by pipes featured in the works of major artists like van Gogh, Miro, and Magritte. This particular Hawkbill takes inspiration from Magritte. As a shape, it features a plump, full-bodied bowl that's posed at the fore of a languid, aquiline-like shank-and-stem arrangement. The form's characteristic shank and stem imbue this piece with a gestural curvature that's visually captivating. Dressed in the Spongia rustication, the stummel offers a wealth of tactile character for the fingers to admire. Additionally, this piece accented with a band of silver, which ties the entire composition together quite nicely.
